Torbet Tuft & McConkie Obtains One of Colorado’s Top Ten Verdicts in 2016
Law Week Colorado released its annual list of top verdicts for 2016 and one of Torbet Tuft & McConkie’s cases was in the top 10 verdicts in Colorado.
Judgment entered in favor of Torbet Tuft & McConkie client Chiddix Excavating, Inc. onNovember 7, 2016, in the amount of $1,655,050.13 following a $1,500,000.00 jury verdict in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Torbet Tuft & McConkie partners David G. McConkie and Hans C. Tuft represented Chiddix Excavating, Inc., at the five-day jury trial.
The jury’s verdict found that Colorado Springs Utilities violated Chiddix Excavating, Inc.’s rights under the 14 th Amendment to the United Sates Constitution to due process of law, resulting in significant lost business revenues. Torbet Tuft & McConkie is defending the judgment on the City’s subsequent appeal, and the firm seeks recovery of additional attorney fees and costs.
